Queen of Everything

Dear Friends,

I hope you are doing well and staying cool! It seems the older I get the weather is something I talk about more and more!

We're getting away and praying for a break from the heat in the mountains, but you never know how it's going to play out.

I can't remember if I shared these pictures with you, but if so, please humor me because it's hard to fit everything in that needs to be done this week and work on a blog post.

Sometimes I work from home and decided to fix myself a little tea with this new mug complete with lace doilie, cloth napkin, cupcake and my favorite flatware pattern.
A close up of the silver flatware. Before I got married, I bought a place setting each month to put in my hope chest. Over the years....pieces have gone missing and I'm trying to replace it when I come across it.
Doesn't that cupcake looked delicious? I'm hungry just looking at it!
Close up of the crochet lace on doilie. Found this at a thrift store.
Cupcake is Red Velvet with Cream Cheese frosting. Yummy!
One of my favorite mugs to drink coffee or tea with. Love what it says!
Another view! Hope you take time to fix yourself a cup of tea!
Happy August!

Breakfast Nook Tablescape

Hi Friends,
Tuesday has rolled around again and I'm trying my best to get a post entry for you! It's been a week since I blogged so feeling a bit behind. I'm highlighting some special items in my kitchen and things recently acquired.

Hoping you have a great week! I get to see our youngest daughter this weekend and I'm so excited. It's always wonderful to visit with our loved ones.

This is my tablescape for this week. It's in our breakfast nook.

This is the back of the cup and saucer on display. It's jade green and really pretty.
This picture looks more lime that the jade color it is. My grandmother had tons of this and I wished I could have gotten some of it. I bought this in her memory at an antique store.
This Coca-Cola box was given to me. It's cute and small.
These pictures are a little out of sequence. I like the black and white showing the tablescape.
Shows this book was published in 1950. I don't even remember where I got it, but have had it a long time.

The only color pages are the front and back cover and this first page. It's really pretty I think.
Here's the outside of the cookbook. It's literally falling apart. I do use it as a reference source from time to time.
Our oldest daughter bought this at a yard sale years ago. She knew I collected apple things. I never noticed the front how it has a crackled effect. Ha ha!
Love this rolling pin. I've used it a few times, but mostly for display. Picked it up at a thrift store.
Friends gave me this metal tin can. It's small and I have no idea what it was used for. Don't think it's that old.
I hope you enjoyed seeing them my stuff.
It's my pleasure to join these parties this week:

Summer Breeze

Hi Ladies,

Last week I decorated my dining room table into a no fuss tablescape. The colors yellow, green, and lime make me think of summer and has a tropical feel to it.

We are in the rainy season and it rains every afternoon and evening now. It's really greened everything up. It helps cut down on the temps and cools it off a bit.

I hope you are having a restful and relaxing summer and taking time for family.

This is a bird's eye view of my dining room table.
A closeup of the wooden fruit bowl my husband bought me years ago on a mission's trip.
This was all hand made. The detail is beautiful.
Top view of fruit bowl.
Close up of napkins. I put two together for a more dramatic look.
I used plastic plates! Grass place mats and other thrift finds.
Glass was a GW find. Love the color.

A Beach Tabletop

Hi Friends,

Hope you are doing well! It's been really hot here in SW Florida, but I've seen temps all over the US in triple digits! Hoping you are staying cool. I'm hibernating inside as it's too hot and humid to be outside.

I wanted to make a white beach table top, so here's my efforts with what I had on hand and of course using finds from a recent GW trip! LOL

The table cover is just a remnant of material I've had for years. It's white...reminds me of sand.

Shell statue ~ a sweet gal made this for me and I just loved it!
My daughter bought these white balls. I use them all that time in arrangements.
A pitcher and bowl set I put together. The blue cloth is a handkerchief from Honduras.
A close-up of the pitcher. I appreciate it very much as I'm a pianist and a lover of music.
A recent purchase at GW. I really would like to sit in one of those wicker chairs and enjoy the view! Sorry for the crooked picture!
Purchased a pair of candle holders at GW. I like the color and crackle look to them. They were only $3.99 for the pair.

Here's the tabletop with the completed view.

Have a safe and cool week!

Boca Grand Pink Part II

Hi Folks,

We have a friend in town and we took him to Boca Grande or also known as Gasaprilla Island yesterday to show the sights in SW Florida. This is where I showed you the pink gas pump last Pink Saturday.

So, we were having so much fun...I almost forgot I needed more pinks for Pink Saturday. This is a much later post than I planned on doing, but needless to say here it is.

Pink door I spotted! Looking all around!

Beautiful sky ...has hints of pink in the sunset. Love this palm tree. My favorite type.

Pink Bougainvillea - love this flower, but it has many thorns. I'll appreciate them from afar! :)

Don't know what this is....see it all that time around the beaches.

This is a picture of the same from a distance.

Thank you to all my newest followers! You are so appreciated for your time and comments!

I'm joining Beverly at How Sweet the Sound for Pink Saturday! Stay cool!

Happy July 4th!

Hi Friends,

I'd planned on doing a tablescape this week, but it wasn't a red white or blue theme. I've not done a 4th of July tablescape this year, so we are going to revisit last year's that I did. It turned out nicely and I was proud of it.

May you enjoy your holiday with friends and family!

Hugs,
LaDonna

Trust that you are having a enjoyable 4th of July with friends and family. I hadn't planned on doing a 4th of July tablescape, but....I went in a thrift store on Friday and came across some really pretty blue dishes and thought...well why not?

So, I spent a couple of hours putting one together on Friday evening. These dishes are a setting for four which is perfect and the set is complete without chips or cracks and in very good condition. I really don't decorate with blue so I'm excited to have blue as well in the mix and the price was right too!

A couple of mentions highlighted in this tablescape... My father-in-law who passed away recently served as career army is featured and my husband's grandmother known as "Granny" made red, white & blue potholders and a dishcloth that is part of this tablescape. Granny made these in her latter years. I will always treasure them even though I'd never met her as she passed away before I came into the picture.

GW purchase of blue and white plates.

4 piece place setting of the blue and white.

Pretty blue teapot a gift.

Granny's crochet potholder and dishrags passed on to me.
Papa served career army.

Hope you enjoyed my patrotic table!

Feeling like Aqua

Hi Everyone! This spring season I've noticed everywhere I go the stores are decorating with teal, aqua and pretty greens.  March mark...
