Feeling like Aqua

Hi Everyone!

This spring season I've noticed everywhere I go the stores are decorating with teal, aqua and pretty greens.  March marked a year my mom passing away.

I did an aqua tablescape in her honor with some of her things.

Aqua has been very comforting.  Can't really explain it.  I recently looked up what the color aqua/turquoise meant:

The color turquoise is associated with meanings of refreshing, feminine, calming, sophisticated, energy, wisdom, serenity, wholeness, creativity, emotional balance, spiritual grounding, friendship, love, joy, tranquility, patience, intuition, and loyalty.

Now I know why it feels right in this season of my life.

I'd like to show you a few pictures.  I'm still enjoying this and don't know if I'll change it anytime soon.
View of the table
I found these plates at TJ Maxx on clearance.  I was thrilled.  The placemats came from Dollar Tree last year.
I found these napkins from the Christmas Tree store.  I couldn't believe the prices.  The napkin rings came from a friend of mine.
This tablecloth was my inspiration.  It belonged to my mom.  I found it in her hope chest.  Those colors must have been very popular in the late 50's when her and dad got married.
A sweet friend of mine found these at GW in the bargain barn.  I can't believe the cup and saucer weren't broken.  If you've ever been in a bargain barn you hear glass breaking as people go through those bins.  They just throw things around. I remembered I had these and matched up nicely.
I love this huge candle holder/vase not sure what it is.  Purchased at Hobby Lobby recently.
This cross has been my source of comfort and felt it completed the tablescape by hanging on the wall in the dining area.  It is well with my Soul.  Thank you Lord!  You give me comfort and joy during this season in my life.

Blessings,
LaDonna

A few flowers

Hi All,

Here in Southwest Florida we are in a drought.  We won't see any relief until middle of June according to our weather forecast.  That is when the rainy season begins.

Our grass is dried up as everyone's yard is and the only thing growing are the weeds.  I have a few flowers that I've been watering.

I mentioned how life has been so crazy for me the last 3-4 years with my parents illness and then passing.

Easter Sunday I invited my brother and family to come for dinner.  It was bittersweet having my brother over but not our parents.  They would have been here in a heartbeat.  Mom and dad loved to visit and enjoy good home cooked meals.

See the pics of what's growing in my yard.  It's not impressive like some gardens in blog land but I'm working on my green thumb!  LOL

My girls got this miniature gardenia a few years back.  Just started blooming.  Love it!
This is a mum plant that has been blooming since the fall which I think is unusual for Florida.

Don't know what type of flower this is.  I'm surprised it came back up.

I have a couple of more flowers that haven't bloomed yet. Started tomato's from seed.  The plants are doing well.  Sure hope I have success with a harvest.

Hope you have a great weekend!  I'm joining Beverly at:

How Sweet the Sound for Pink Saturday.

Thanks guys!

A Memorial March 9

Hi Friends,

I know it's been such a long time since I've blogged but life has been crazy the last 3-4 years.  A year ago this month my sweet mama left this earth and went to heaven.  I celebrate and remember her life. She was a loving, caring wife, mother, and grandmother.

I'm thankful for the legacy she left behind in myself and my brother and her grandchildren.  She loved the Lord and took us faithfully to church.  Mom taught a children's Sunday School class for years and made a difference in so many lives.  She sang in the choir and opened her home to women in her neighborhood.  She prayed for others and treated everyone with love and kindness.

With life not as crazy I hope to begin blogging again and sharing.  My blog isn't like  DIY with a new project every week.  I can't commit to that as it would be overwhelming.  However, I do enjoy reading those bloggers that do.  They give great ideas!

"Mom, there are days I miss you terribly but know I'll see you again."

Hugs,
LaDonna

Music Lessons

Good Evening,

I realize it's Pink Saturday today and honestly there is no pink in this post.  It's been a year since I've done anything with this blog and thought this would be a great place to start.  I hope you enjoy this post and find it a bit humorous.

I went to see my folks today and stayed busy the whole time attending to their needs and visiting.  My little great niece and her mom came to see my mom and dad which is always a wonderful treat for my parents.  Maddie is 7 years old and very smart.  She's playing violin and has a desire to play piano.  My dad is encouraging her mom and dad to buy her a keyboard and have her take lessons.

My dad desperately wanted to play piano growing up but my grandparents his parents couldn't afford for him to learn thus... he made sure I took piano lessons.  I have to admit it was the last thing I wanted to do.  I'd rather go outside and play than to practice the piano.  There was much more fun outdoors.

I wished I'd apply myself more than I did.  The bunch of black notes in the classical pieces were to intimidating.

Music is a wonderful gift that I'm thankful for and regardless of my talent I'm able to worship God with it.  I encourage you to take time at home and worship Him.
"speaking to one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making music in your hearts to the Lord, 20 always giving thanks to God the Father for each other in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ."  Ephesians 5:15

It's Hot Pink in Florida!

Hi Dear Friends,

You probably have thought I've fallen off the planet but not true.  Life has been so crazy with my parents.

It's been one thing after another, but things are finally getting back to normal whatever that looks like now.  :)

I'm thankful to have both parents still living.  That is a blessing for sure.

I'd like to share a few of my favorite pinks.

Hope you have a wonderful day!

Be Blessed!

This is a place I'd love to have to share with my friends.  Maybe one day....

This picture was taken from one of my favorite tea rooms in Mt. Dora Florida called
Garden Gate Tea room.

This isn't really pink...but love the thought of relaxing outside in this comfy outdoor room!
It would have to be in a place that has cooler temps in the summer!
Love the message of this poster!

Pretty Pink pitcher set I recently acquired a few years ago.

Beautiful pink flowers given to me from friends!

Long Hot Summer!

Hi!

Just wanted you to know I'm still here....it's been a long hot summer!

Can't believe it's been since June that I posted last.

The reason I haven't blogged is because my computer died and we had to get a new one and the software on this computer we have now has been driving me CRAZY!

It's been the most frustrating thing I've used in a long time!

I've begged my hubby to please take this new software off and let me have the old one, but he says it's not available on the new computers!  Yikes!

It's the most UNFRIENDLY software ever.....  If you have an older version of Microsoft windows I advise you keep it unless you want the upgrade.  OK, I digress....

There were some new pink items I'd love to show you, but another time.  Computer isn't cooperating with me.  LOL!

Today I'm happy to join Beverly at How Sweet the Sound for Pink Saturday.

You've seen these before but thought you might get a kick out of them again.

Two good friends of ours.  These guys were goofing off!  Truck belongs to the wife of the man in green shirt.
This door is on an island we enjoy going to.  Boca Grande Island.
I loved this  little fan.  It quit working.  Sad face   :(
This gas pump is located also on Boca Grande Island

Well, these will have to do today.  Until next time!

A Fur baby - Ebony

Hi Friends,

Today I featuring one of my fur babies.  Now that we are emptynesters.  I have them to take care of.  All of us women I guess are that way!  :)

They are so funny...or can be annoying at times.  I feed, water, pet them and sometimes bathe them.  They depend on me to meet their needs.

Ebony is our rescue cat.  We took him in as a skinny, starved kitten that someone had dropped off near our church where I was working.

It was a rainy day and he jumped up in the window sill outside meowing.  We tried to catch him but he ran away.

The next day he showed up again and I went to the fellowship hall kitchen to find something I could feed him.

Well, the only thing I found were frozen hot dogs.  I thawed them quickly and took them to him.  He gobbled 3 up and the entire time he was crying.  It was heartbreaking!  My husband said, that's it!  We're taking him home.

He's been with us ever since and is the best pet ever.  He loves to eat and never misses a meal now as I'm sure you can tell by these pictures.

Ebony's not a lap cat but loves to be near me and sleep at the end of our bed.

I hope you can see his personality in these pictures.  He's very content and gets along with our elderly senior kitty and  dog.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

I'm joining Beverly at How Sweet the Sound for  Pink Saturday.

He loves to be outside in the mornings on our screened porch.  He's all black except for that little white patch.

Pretty eyes

He loves to sleep on the wicker furniture in my foo foo room.

Likes my pink rug.    :)

Ebony actually sat next to this silk flower.  I took a quick pic.  He loved it for some reason.
